1 Billion Breaths

 

India was facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world after a massive surge of Covid cases rose to record breaking number in April 2021. 

1 Billion Breaths was a campaign led by Indian restaurants across the world coming together to raise awareness in support of their homeland. Over 40 restaurants participated across 4 continents to donate 100% of meal proceeds towards the cause. In addition to this, Kindred Kitchen, a fundraising event in NYC was hosted to raise additional funds. Celebrities contributed recipes for the dinner including: Padma Lakshmi, Mindy Kaling, Madhur Jaffrey, Priya Krishna, and wife of late Floyd Cardoz, Barka Cardoz.

A total of $750,000 was raised for Covid-19 relief in India.
